The Dream Machine - DEMO

Posted by struma - February 18th, 2009

Believe it or not, things are actually happening with the game!

Though there is still a long way to go, we just completed a short but playable DEMO for the game, so you can get a glimpse of what we're doing. And also to iron out some of the bugs before the big release.

So why don't you give it a shake, and tell us what you think?

Cheers,

The Dream Machine - DEMO

Comments

Good idea about island and dream.
And textures was great, did you make it with Blender ?
Or what ?

Nah. It's hand made. Clay and paint, basically.

Wow thats fucking amazing!

I love the art direction youve gone with the game, it makes it feel so engaging and atmospheric. Really top job on the visuals man.

The gameplay mechinics are cool too, I think this will be very popular :)

I didnt know what to do once I got the map!

Thanks man!

I'm sure you'll figure out what to do. Just give it another try. Or PM me for hints.

Clay?!
That's pretty damn cool!

Yay!

That was a brilliant demo. I didn't find any problems at all.

I take it you didn't use flash for that?

Well, most of the art assets weren't produced in Flash. We built them out of clay mainly, then lit, photographed and retouched them. But the interactivity, the actual game, was produced in Flash.

SIGH I wish I could somehow help on this project... Do you need any voice acting done? Probably not because all of the main characters dont talk to add to the nice creepy mood the game gives.

Well, good luck! You should get lots of prizes with this game. ;)

There'll be no voice acting in the game, but I'll get back to you if I need help.

Nice job!! this is so cool. Maybe one day you could teach me how to make a game as cool as this one. It would be such a cool experience. Keep up the good work and i can't wait for the full version! Also No bugs as far as a can tell...

Hi its me again and I don't know what happen but the second time i tried to play the demo. I started a new game and i couldn't move, pick up anything, or examine anything. Could you check this please because i would love to check out the demo again.

Sounds like one of those random odd bugs that happens once in a blue moon. Try playing again and see if it's the same.

hey, i tried again to play it and i still could move. I would just slowly turn around.

yo thanks for the ddemo, it reminds me of the Gateway series, this game will be awesome, and it seems like it will be a lot longer than Gateway. Anyways theres a bug where when u look at a hole and go back, the main character dissappears, sometimes hes there and sometimes hes not. Anyways Great Game.

Is there a bug in the game? I have the same problem as a couple of other posters -- can't pick up objects nor walk. I am able to turn around in a circle though (as much good as that does me).

It really looks great from what I can tell though. To be honest, I checked your page for an update on the next Gateway game but this looks like a great substitute if only I could get it running. Keep up the great work!

u spelt label wrong btw lol its on the text when he examines the box in front of his bed

Fixed!

This is very nice and innovative work indeed.

The only 2 glitches I have found thus far.
1.-When the dug holes are low enough on the island, the character just walks towards the hole, but does not examine them.
2.-When clicking to examine the lamp, he freezes in place making him completely immobile and halting the game completely.

However, seeing Soap Bubble and Gateway, I hardly think you need us to point these minor flaws out. Cheers

nice game
cant wate for full verson

oh and i see why you changed the name it worked like gateway
but wasnt like the others

that was really great! but i think i prefer the vector look..

greagt, great , great

but i am still waiting for the next gateway ^^

its almost april and i am so excited. How long until the dream machine is estimated to come out? I bet its great

Hopefully it will be great. It's still a ways off, though.

Looks really cool. Reminds me A LOT of GATEWAY...speaking of which...when is the third coming out? Or will this be a spiritual successor?

Yeah. It'll come out sometime. I haven't begun working on it, but some ideas surfaced, that I'm interestedd in persuing.

I LOVED the demo. I wish it was the full version! Everything worked great for me except the mouse didn't turn into a hand to turn off the alarm clock. It's so minor I feel foolish mentioning it. This game looks awesome :D

Oops, I lied. I'm sorry! The mouse does turn into a hand but not until you wake up.
